Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT)

CAT is a clinically tested, time-limited therapy which enables you to make sense of your current difficulties in terms of your past experiences. The approach aims to help you recognise and revise unhelpful patterns in relationships that cause emotional pain and keep you stuck.  CAT can enable you to get your needs met in your relationships and to care for yourself in more empowering and healthy ways.  As part of CAT, other techniques (e.g. CBT, Mindfulness, Voice Dialogue, EFT) can be used to bring about change in a very powerful manner.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT is an evidence-based, time-limited and problem-focused therapy, which invites you to better understand the interaction between your thoughts, feelings and behaviours and how this influences your experience of life.  To overcome your difficulties, you will be encouraged to engage collaboratively with your therapist to change unhelpful thinking and behavioural patterns to embrace a better quality of life.

Recent developments in the CBT field include:

Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy – draws on the philosophy that it is our relationship with our internal experience that impacts our life, not the content of our thoughts and aims to give you greater control, peace and freedom in your life.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) – draws upon Mindfulness and enables a different relationship with your thoughts and emotions, encouraging psychological flexibility and the ability to make choices based on what you truly value.

Compassionate Focused Therapy & Compassionate Mind Training – draws upon evolutionary psychology and combines mindfulness and compassion to help liberate yourself from unnecessary suffering and transform your ability to care for yourself and others in healthier ways.

Schema Therapy – aims to address long-standing and self-defeating patterns of beliefs, feelings and ways of interacting with others that often develop in childhood. Therapy involves understanding where the difficulties stem from and working together to build up the ‘healthy part’ of you using emotive, interpersonal, cognitive and behavioural techniques. The aim is enable you to gain more control over unhelpful patterns, get your needs met more effectively in your relationships and to cope better with your emotions.

Holistic talking therapies include:

Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT)

Learn a simple effective technique that involves tapping certain parts of the body. Using acupuncture points, this is a ‘no needles’ way of channelling your energy to combat emotional and physical ailments.

Voice Dialogue

Voice Dialogue is a ground-breaking experiential tool to help you get to know and understand how you relate to yourself and others on a very deep level. It is a consciousness expanding process that can increase the choices you have for navigating life successfully and has the potential to transform all kinds of relationship issues.
